There are dozens of over-the-counter hearing aids on the market and most "best of" lists only show you a handful. This tool lets you compare the ones actually worth considering side by side — and filter them down to the two or three that fit your budget, phone, and priorities. Every device here I've evaluated against published lab data and real-world use; the most objective number in the table is the independent HearAdvisor lab grade.

Tip: tap a column header (Price, Lab Grade) to sort. Lab grade is the independent HearAdvisor score, A is best.

How this comparison works

This isn't a paid placement chart. Devices are scored on what actually matters when you wear one every day:

Independent lab grade

Where a device has been tested by HearAdvisor, I show its A–F grade — the single most objective way to compare a $98 device against a $1,950 one on the same scale. Only three devices here carry a published A, B, or Expert Choice result; the rest are honestly marked "—" rather than guessed at.

Bluetooth, decoded

"Bluetooth" hides a lot. The table separates devices that genuinely stream audio to both iPhone and Android from those that are iPhone-only or app-control-only. If you use Android, that distinction matters more than almost anything else — see the Bluetooth hearing aids guide for the full explanation.

Honest "best for"

Every device is good at something and wrong for someone. The "best for" column is my one-line take on who each device actually suits — drawn from the full reviews, which you can open from any row.

Need a prescription instead of OTC? If your hearing loss is severe, complex, or in only one ear, OTC isn't the right path. ZipHearing connects you with local audiologists at negotiated prices — often far less than a typical clinic. More in our ZipHearing review and OTC vs prescription guide.
